Charl Marais from 4Sight will speak about the design and deployment of a value chain optimization solution for Vulcan Mozambique, one of the worlds’ largest coal operations. The scope included the replacement of multiple systems, including custom developments, Excel sheets and proprietary databases. The solution had to be majority off the shelf and cover mining, processing plant, rail and port activities including demand management, long term planning, short term scheduling, production, inventory management, delay accounting, maintenance execution and calculation of performance and conformance KPI’s.
The project starting with vendor selection, via engineering and delivery took a spectacularly short period of only little more than a year and a half. We are eager to ask Char how he managed that. Charl will also share how value is to the user is created by integration of silos using business process automation.
ARC believes this presentation would be beneficial to any large project owner or manager, and in particular to operations management professionals. If you happen to be active in minerals and mining, there will probably be some additional nuggets.
