For more than three decades, ARC has been recognized globally for our detailed market analysis and unrivaled Robotic Inspection Servicesaccuracy. ARC analysts monitor the key technologies, vertical industries, and regional trends impacting the global business environment on an ongoing basis. A case in point is the market for Robotic Inspection Services.

Traditional non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection rely on conventional manual NDT approaches which are often unsafe, manual, and inefficient. These methods are also subject to variation in the quality of the inspector and their ability to provide consistently accurate and reliable measurements. Robotic Inspection Services help keep employees safe, can reduce inspection times, automate data collection, and ensure greater data consistency. These tools can reduce the overall cost of inspections since users can outsource their requirements, rather than bear the overhead of an internal inspection staff for inspections that may occur every couple of years or more.

Robotic Inspection Services

This market analysis focuses on robotic solutions that are deployed as part of providing an inspection service, especially the non-destructive testing of piping, pipelines, vessels, tanks, boilers, scrubbers, and other assets found in industries such as chemical, electric power generation, electric power transmission and distribution (T&D), food & beverage, mining, oil & gas, pharmaceutical & biotech, pulp & paper, refining, and other industries.

The main inspection methods deployed with the robotic solutions include eddy current, ultrasonic, visual/remote visual, and other applications that inspect for corrosion, cracks, blistering, and other defects or problems. The robotic form factors include crawlers, wheeled, tracked or snake-like robots and excludes inline smart pigs that are inserted in a pipeline and flow with product or some other energy source to propel movement. Also excluded are subsea remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) used in subsea environments.
